Reviews for
The Master Preacher by author Albert Richmond Bond:
Dr. E. Dargan in the introduction of the book states, “The
selection of topics, as shown in the chapter headings, is
alike comprehensive and discriminating, giving evidence of
careful thought and of a vigorous grasp of both details and
general principles. The treatment of topics exhibits firsthand
and thorough study. This author’s wide reading is apparent,
but Dr. Bond has not been content to be “a follower” only.
His writing here has newness to it and suggestiveness of
its own.”
The well-known author Herbert Lockyer gave everyone
a “heads up” when he described this book The Master Preacher. “Most
remarkable; unique,” he describes the treatise about the “Homiletics
of Jesus” – the sermon preparation and delivery Jesus undertook
in developing for our benefit the keys of salvation to open
the door of heaven. At the publication of this fine book
(1910), one review appeared that has come down; it states: “The
author has produced a masterpiece as to the preaching of
Jesus. The thought moves along the line of his Preparation,
audiences, themes, rhetorical forms, parables, miracles,
personal delivery, simplicity and originality, dramatic power,
authoritativeness, and above all, Jesus’ Messianic Consciousness
as the source of his marvelous preaching power. No student
of the life of Christ can afford to be without this volume,
which emphasizes facts not duly appreciated.”
To the above
whole-hearted recommendations for reading The Master Preacher
I would like to add my personal comment as this site’s director
and typist for the presentation. “This book helped me to
want to have Jesus as my Lord. I appreciate all he was and
is more and more now that I’ve seen his psychology and know
the purpose he so lovingly and forcefully preached for over
three years: our opportunity and chance for eternal life with salvation.” -- Clif Moberg, www.BerkeleyVersion.com
My hope is that you will take the time to
read all the book, or several chosen chapters at least, to
gain for yourself what, though old, is a fresh outlook into
Jesus’ personal preaching ways; for, little exists besides
this manuscript of Dr. Bond’s, and for one to today locate
this rare book is costly ($240) or at the least, a difficult
effort.
